Smyrna

Metro Atlanta Communities:  SMYRNA

Smyrna is near and dear to my heart.

Situated just 10 miles Northwest of Atlanta proper but free of the city’s trademark congestion lies the suburb of Smyrna. More than 50,000 friendly Georgians call Smyrna home, and it’s easy to see why. A generally younger population makes great use of a rejuvenated downtown area, tons of park and public space, jogging and biking trails, and ever expanding industry and business opportunities.

Smyrna real estate listings encompass a full range of homes, from small starters to sprawling mansions and everything in between. The neighborhoods of Smyrna are proud of a diverse population and a deep sense of community. With a long list of amenities and advantages for living there, it’s easy to see why Smyrna real estate is such a highly sought after commodity.

The downtown area of Smyrna has undergone major revitalization, and the result is a charming district with endless opportunity for outdoor recreation, nightlife and family fun. Proximity to two of the regions major thoroughfares, Interstates 75 and 285, means that all Smyrna homes have the added advantage of never being far from anything in the metro area. In fact, despite being one of the main Northern suburbs, Smyrna is only a 15-minute drive from Downtown Atlanta.

Some things I love about Smyrna:

  • The Smyrna Market Village and Village Green - this is where the Community Center and Library are, the Jonquil Festival and other City of Smyrna events, lots of restaurants and stores. One of my favorite places in the Village is The Wine Cellars where you can just relax with friends and a glass of wine (and/or pick up a bottle). The owner, Renee Rowe, has some fantastic selections! The Wine Cellars is located at 1295 W. Spring St., Ste. 100, Smyrna, GA 30080. Hours are Mon. 4-9 p.m.; Tues. -Sat. 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Food Truck Tuesdays at Taylor-Brawner Park, 3180 Atlanta Rd., Smyrna, GA 30080. May thru Sept. at 5 p.m. in the Park.
  • The Silver Comet Trail is a must if you love biking or walking!
  • The New Kroger, located at 3240 South Cobb Drive, Smyrna, GA 30082. This is a massive grocery store and gas station! The Produce Department is awesome! Great prices on gasoline - be sure to use your Kroger card at the pump and save $$! There's a Starbuck's and a great deli, too!
  • Sprouts Farmers Market recently opened in Smyrna. It's located at 4330 East-West Connector, Smyrna, GA 30082.

If you want to be close to downtown Atlanta, the Airport, the Perimeter, Cumberland Mall or Cobb Galleria, but you want to have Cobb County Schools and Taxes, Smyrna is the place to live! It's located about 1 mile northwest of the Atlanta city limits and about 10 miles from downtown Atlanta. It's just west of the northern intersection of I-285 and I-75, which is the site of Cumberland, Cobb Galleria, and the future site of the Braves Stadium. Close, but not too close! Smyrna is also near Vinings, Marietta, and Sandy Springs.
